Language, Learning & Literacy (L3) program
Kindergarten students are participating in a new Literacy program, Language, Learning & Literacy (L3). This fantastic program has been developed to assist in the development of Literacy skills for Kindergarten students. As a part of this program, all Kindergarten teachers will be working intensively with groups of three students at a time, focusing on Reading and Writing skills. Students will engage in regular independent, interactive and guided writing sessions as well as guided and shared reading session. Students will also engage in a variety of hands on, independent learning activities to support and build their writing vocabularies. While this program is new to the school, so far the results have been impressive.
Targeted Early Numeracy (TEN) program
Targeted Early Numeracy (TEN) is another new program to the school. It is a Mathematics intervention program that has been introduced into Kindergarten, Year 1 & Year 2 classrooms. This program recognises that a small number of students may not reach expected achievement levels in the early years of schooling, even with the high quality whole class early numeracy program. TEN helps to identify these students early on and teachers implement short, focused, frequent numeracy sessions (typically 10 minute blocks) with this targeted group. We look forward to seeing the great results from this program.
